Songwriting Gong for Jasmine Dale

Congratulations to Jasmine “Jazzy” Dale (Year 10) for achieving first place in the Youth category at this year’s annual Australian Songwriters’ Association (ASA) songwriting competition!

Jazzy performed her winning song ‘Better Place’ in front of a 450-strong audience with Mr Rob Weaver providing accompaniment on the piano.

Jazzy penned the heartfelt song as a tribute to her good Vinnies friend, Mia Glasel:
"I wrote Better Place a few days after my beautiful friend’s Dad passed away. I wrote it from her perspective, as if she was singing it. I couldn’t stop crying the whole time I was writing it, this song was written and the demo recorded within a couple of hours. I was very emotional and I really wanted to capture that."

As a winner she qualified for a nomination as Songwriter of the Year.  From the thousands of entries ASA receives every year from aspiring hopefuls, Jazzy as one of the top 10 entrants won the privilege of performing her piece before an audience of music industry professionals who no doubt took note of our rising young star.  Jazzy can hone her creative talents further with her win of a Magesongs full songwriting course valued at $1,200.
