National Sorry Day Acknowledgement 2020

National Sorry Day is a day to remember the stolen generation and to be mindful of the sadness that Government policy has brought to the lives of thousands of First Nations people.

To acknowledge National Sorry Day this year, our Director of Faith and Mission, Mrs Kenderes, arranged for some of our First Nations students to conduct an online Q&A with Senator for the Northern Territory, Ms Malarndirri McCarthy. They asked about the Senator’s background and discussed Land Rights claims, experiences of the stolen generation, sacrifices, the discovery of ‘lost’ family members, landcare practices and the importance of education.

We sincerely thank Senator McCarthy for the gift of her time and insight, as well as the students involved: Alyrah, Billie, Jessie, Janda, Jemma, Clare, Tarli and Tiah for sharing their stories and questions. Click here to view the Q&A
