Movie Night: Ride Like a Girl

Year 9 are excited to be leaders of two initiatives in the College at the moment. The first is our Winter Appeal that you will already know about from Tutor. We encourage you to support Year 9 in this action for others – looking out to others in community in need.

The second initiative is that Year 9 will be hosting a Premiere Screening of the film Ride Like a Girl.

This is the inspirational true story of jockey Michelle Payne who beat catastrophic injury and odds of 100:1 to become the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. When she was our age, she was already dreaming big, working hard – it is her dreams and determination that shaped her success – the same qualities that we aspire to in our St Vincent’s College education – empower ourselves to be the best of who we can be. Michelle went to a Catholic girls’ school in Ballarat, with values much like ours, and one person who knew Michelle well when she was just our age was her school principal, who just happens to be our school principal, that’s right, Mrs Fry.

So come along and see the screen version of Mrs Fry and have a good night with family and friends celebrating why our community wants us all to Ride Like a Girl, in whatever path we choose.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 17 September 5:45pm for a 6pm screening.
