HSC Results 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to present to you the high achievers of the class of 2019 (and the Accelerated Mathematics students of the class of 2020).  While a number can never capture the whole of a student’s story, there are benchmarks that are recognised as levels of excellence.  A study score over 90 is one such measure and this year 63 students received one or more of these results, and the College recorded a total of 157 Band 6 results. We use a key as a metaphor for education at St Vincent’s College and the ATAR is the key that opens the door of tertiary institutions.  In congratulating our students with outstanding study scores and ATAR’s, we also recognise the many students who have exceeded the level of attainment they had dared hope for, or the students who carried trauma, grief or illness throughout all or some of their HSC year.

I also extend my appreciation to the teachers who have worked so closely with them throughout the year.  It is often the relationship with a Year 12 teacher that is the most memorable of all the relationships formed during the education journey, and the one whose influence remains long after schooling finishes.  I recognise the teachers, the Heads of Department, Mrs Mano and all who have provided excellent academic care.  I also recognise the wonderful integration of pastoral care that underpins the holistic learning and growth of all our students.

The class of 2019 is worthy of our RESPECT.  They contributed in diverse and creative ways to the College for their six years of enrolment.  They received high numbers of nominations for Showcases and Exhibitions in Dance, Drama, Design and Textiles.  They inspired us with their idealism and practical advocacy for those marginalised by various circumstances; they cared for each other and their environment and now they deservedly take their place in the folklore of St Vincent’s College.  I hope they will always know that St Vincent’s College is and always will be very proud of the courageous women of action they are, and we will follow their future with affection and pride.

Yours sincerely
Anne Fry
